Product Overview

Welding wire rod is a specialty wire rod that is drawn into gas metal arc, tungsten inert gas and submerged arc welding wires. Jingye supplies ER70S-6 to AWS A5.18, EM12K to AWS A5.17, and SWRY11 and SWRY11Cr to JIS G3503, with Chinese equivalents under GB/T 3429 such as H08A and H08Mn2Si.

Chemistry is tightly controlled with low sulphur and phosphorus and appropriate silicon and manganese levels, so that the drawn wire delivers a stable arc, low spatter and sound weld metal properties.

Grades and Standards

Grade Standard Notes
ER70S-6 AWS A5.18 Most widely used gas metal arc welding wire
EM12K AWS A5.17 Submerged arc welding wire
SWRY11 / SWRY11Cr JIS G3503 Japanese welding wire rod grades
H08A / H08Mn2Si GB/T 3429 Chinese welding wire rod equivalents

Available Dimensions

Diameter 5.5 to 6.5 mm; supplied in coil.

Key Features

  • Low sulphur and phosphorus contents for a stable arc and low spatter.
  • Controlled silicon and manganese for sound weld metal chemistry.
  • Suitable for gas metal arc, tungsten inert gas and submerged arc wires.
  • Clean surface for reliable copper coating and drawing.

Applications

  • Gas metal arc and tungsten inert gas welding wire.
  • Submerged arc welding wire.
  • Core wire for covered welding electrodes.

Delivery, Testing and Quality

Wire rod is produced on high-speed wire rod mills and released with a mill test certificate, with chemistry, decarburisation and surface quality controlled for downstream drawing, cold heading and welding. Products are manufactured under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does ER70S-6 mean?

ER denotes electrode rod, 70 indicates a minimum tensile strength of 70 000 psi, S denotes solid wire, and 6 identifies the chemical composition variant. It is the most widely used gas metal arc welding wire.

  • What is the difference between ER70S-6 and EM12K?

ER70S-6 is used mainly for gas shielded welding, while EM12K is a submerged arc welding wire with higher manganese for use with a flux.

  • Do you supply the finished welding wire?

Jingye supplies the welding wire rod, which welding consumable manufacturers draw and copper-coat into finished wire.
